Your Bible says: “There were giants in the earth in those days.” That’s it. One sentence. No names. No explanation of where they came from. No account of what happened to them. The story just… stops.
The Book of Enoch doesn’t stop. It names the 200 Watchers who descended to Mount Hermon. It names their leader: Semyaza. It names the other 19 chiefs. It describes what they taught humanity — metallurgy, enchantments, the art of cosmetics, astrology — and explains why God considered these gifts a corruption rather than a blessing.
The Book of Enoch was found in 11 copies among the Dead Sea Scrolls — more copies than many books currently in your Bible. The New Testament quotes it directly. The early church read it. It was removed not because it was false, but because its detail was inconvenient.
Read 1 Enoch Tonight →In 1896, a German scholar named Carl Reinhardt bought a papyrus manuscript in Cairo. It was the Gospel of Mary Magdalene — written in Coptic, dating to the 2nd century, containing private post-resurrection teachings that Jesus gave specifically to Mary.
In the text, Mary is the disciple who understood. While the male disciples weep and fear, Mary comforts them. Peter asks her to share what Jesus told her privately. She does. Then Peter gets angry — not because the teachings are wrong, but because they came from a woman.
The Gospel of Mary was excluded because a patriarchal institution building a patriarchal church could not accommodate a text in which a woman held primary spiritual authority. The pages were literally removed. Some are still missing.
Acts 1:3 is one of the most important sentences in the New Testament: “He appeared to them over a period of forty days and spoke about the kingdom of God.”
Forty days of teaching. And then your Bible gives you none of it. Not one word of what Jesus actually said during those forty days appears anywhere in the canonical New Testament.
The Pistis Sophia is a record of those teachings. It describes what Jesus meant when he said “the kingdom of God is within you.” It was declared heretical not because its teachings were false, but because they described a path to God that required no institutional intermediary.
The Book of Enoch names the Watchers individually. Semyaza. Azazel, who taught men to make swords and shields. Armaros, who taught the resolving of enchantments. Baraqiel, who taught astrology. Kokabel, the constellations. Each Watcher taught something.
Your Bible gives you six verses. 1 Enoch gives you 108 chapters, names, conversations, judgments, and the complete cosmological framework that the New Testament references but never explains.
It was removed because a named, detailed hierarchy of rebellious supernatural beings is difficult to control theologically. Mystery is easier to manage than specificity.
The Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo Church became Christian before the Council of Nicaea, before Carthage, before any of the councils that would define the Western canon. They were never subject to Roman authority.
The Ethiopian Orthodox Church has read the Book of Enoch, the Book of Jubilees, the Meqabyan books, and 19 other texts continuously for 1,600 years. The Ethiopian Bible is the oldest unbroken canon in the world — and for the first time in history, it is available in English.

“I asked my pastor about the Nephilim for 30 years. He always said it was a mystery. It’s not a mystery. It’s in 1 Enoch, chapter 6. I could have known this my whole life.”
“The 40 days section hit me like a freight train. Acts 1:3 has been in my Bible my whole life and nobody ever told me there was a text that recorded what Jesus said. Nobody.”
“The Gospel of Mary made me understand something I couldn’t articulate for years. She wasn’t a footnote. She was the disciple who actually understood. They erased her.”
“I’ve been a Bible scholar for 18 years. This bundle gave me more to research and study than anything I’ve encountered in a decade. The Meqabyan books alone are extraordinary.”
“I ordered it skeptically. I finished 1 Enoch in four days. Then I called my mother and read her the Watchers section over the phone. We both cried. This was taken from us.”
“Large print, beautiful hardcover, ships fast. The audio narration of 1 Enoch is phenomenal. I’ve listened to it four times already during my commute.”
